Facebook Fire Challenge [VIDEO]

Apparently this is a 'thing' now? Setting yourself on fire?

This craziness has already lead to the death of a 15 year old in New York. A 15 year old in Kentucky was severely burned after setting himself on fire for Facebook. An 11 year old suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns after taking the fire/burn challenge. Now a mom in Charlotte, North Carolina, who actually filmed her child setting himself on fire is facing charges.

Who came up with the Facebook Fire Challenge and who actually does this? I know it started with stuff like the cinnamon challenge and the ice challenge. Does social media rule teenage lives? Have we officially reached the point of desensitization by watching videos online/movies that we can't decipher between special effects and actual bodily harm? IMHO, this is absolutely horrific!
