The fall edition of the Farmers Market in Shreveport wrapped up on Saturday.  I had to make a stop to get some of my Thanksgiving items.

The gates opened at 8am on Saturday and there was a steady stream of customers strolling done the tables under the Festival Plaza Pavilion.  Many of the shoppers were getting items for their Thanksgiving meals.  But many of the regulars were buying their weekly supply of fresh fruits and veggies.  The hottest selling items during the fall season are the fresh greens and several vendors brought those.  I snapped up some beans, eggplant and some locally made hot tamales.  I must admit that it is sad Shreveport does not have a year-round farmer's market, and can only hope that one day that will change.  Organizers will gather after the first of the year to begin planning for the summer season, but I was told there will be some discussion about having one for the spring season.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
