Congressman John Fleming, M.D. has sent an official letter to Secretary Ray Mabus of the Navy seeking details in the capture of ten U.S. sailors by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on January 12.

From Congressman Fleming's official statement:

“Photos and video released by the IRGC showing these Navy personnel blindfolded or kneeling on decks with their hands behind their heads, and of a U.S. sailor apologizing to the IRGC, raise serious questions regarding the potential compromise of our national security. The IRGC likely interrogated our servicemen and inspected our military technology on the boat for intelligence.

While the Administration is still claiming a diplomatic win in the situation, it is a major security blunder and sends the wrong message to Iran. Once again, this President is more interested in protecting Islam than protecting Americans.  In my letter I asked Secretary Mabus to explain the full story, including: Who authorized the decision to surrender the ships to Iranian authorities? Have Navy operations and protocol in the Persian Gulf changed since the nuclear agreement with Iran was finalized?

The security DNA that most Americans have is distinctly absent in this President."
