I can't help but think of the trail these women blazed for our women at Barksdale.

I've always been fascinated with aviation, even more so with the women who pioneered a future for females everywhere. I've read just about everything I can about Amelia Earhart, even wrote reports about her back in m school days.

Now, I'm turning to the FlyGirls.

These women served in the military back in World War II. There weren't many women who flew in the war, but there wasn't a single type of aircraft that didn't have at least one female pilot in its fleet. According to the trailer for FlyGirls, 38 female pilots died in the war, but there was no recognition for their work.

That's where The Red Door Films steps in to tell their story.

FlyGirls - The Forgotten Fliers of World War II will document the stories of three women who made history. It's based on a book called "On Final Approach" by Byrd Howell Granger. I can't seem to find a start date for this television mini-series, but when it does hit my screen, you can bet I'll be watching.
