Former Airman Caught After Fleeing from Barksdale Officials

An Alabama man is behind bars in Bossier Parish after leading authorities on a chase, then ditching his car and hiding in the woods overnight.

Just before 11 last night, Bossier Parish sheriff's deputies were asked to assist Barksdale Air Force Base personnel in persuing 22-year-old Noah Reynolds from Midfield, Alabama.

Reynolds took off in his vehicle, crashing his car through Barksdale's east gate at Bodcau Station Road. He headed north on Bodcau Station, crossed Highway 80 and continued up Bellevue Road. Deputies say he was speeding and driving erratically, forcing other drivers off the roadway. At one point, he also tossed a large quantity of papers out of his window.

The chase continued to the 5900 block of Bellevue Road, near Highway 157, where Reynolds stopped his car, which seemed to be overheating, and took off on foot into the woods. Deputies, base Security Forces and K-9 units searched the area last night, but were unable to locate Reynolds.

A tip came in just after 7 this morning saying Reynolds was still in the area. Deputies found him hiding behind the Mt. Canaan CME Church on Highway 157, near Bellevue Road in Haughton. If his previous behavior wasn't odd enough, he wasn't wearing a shirt or shoes when he was located.

"It continues to baffle me why people flee from law enforcement officers," said Sheriff Julian Whittington. "It just makes no sense and only makes matters worse; you will get caught, you will go to jail. Why make it harder on yourself by getting into a pursuit where you endanger other people's lives and then face additional criminal charges? It's just not worth it."

With the BSO, Reynolds is charged with aggravated flight from an officer, littering, failure to report an accident, resisting an officer, speeding, improper lane usage and failure to wear a seatbelt.
