Former LSU Tiger football star, and NFL Pro Bowl Safety Eric Reid has signed with the Carolina Panthers.

Reid was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2013, where he played until last season. He made the Pro Bowl his rookie season, and made it to the NFC Championship game that season. He has 11 career post-season tackles, and 10 career regular season interceptions.

While at LSU, Reid won the SEC Championship in 2011, and became an All American in 2012. His college career was so prolific, he was able to become the 18th overall pick in the First Round of the NFL Draft.

With Reid's long-term success and high-performance on the field, Reid was unable to find work this off season in the NFL. It likely had nothing to do with his abilities on the field.

Reid was the first player to join Colic Kaepernick in his protesting of police brutality in the United States, while both played for the 49ers. With Reid's resume, and lack of contract offers in the off season, the NFL Player's Association filed a grievance over collusion accusations. The grievance suggested that President Donald Trump's comments, including referring to Reid as a "son of a bitch", had influenced teams to not sign him.

The Panthers are making the move after safety Da'Norris Searcy was placed on Injured Reserve.
