The former police chief in the small Arklatex town of pleads guilty to simple battery and stalking.

James Parrott admitted to the charges in state court in Leesville.

The 50-year-old Parrott was indicted in December 2014 after evidence revealed he stalked his estranged wife. He also was indicted on separate battery charges stemming from incidents in which he inappropriately touched and made unwanted sexual advances toward two female inmates working at the Rosepine Town Hall.

Parrott is sentenced to two, consecutive six-month suspended sentences in addition to another six-month suspended sentence that will run concurrently. He also was placed on probation for two years, ordered to complete anger management classes and required to refrain from any contact with his ex-wife.
