Shreveport firefighters had a busy morning extinguishing four house fires, three of them in Allendale.

The first fire was reported just after 6:20 in the 2700 block of Abbie Street. It took eight units just under an hour to bring the blaze under control.

Just before 7, another fire was reported in the 1900 block of Murphy Street. That one was extinguished in a little over 15 minutes.

And a just after 8:50, the third fire was reported on Milam Street as firefighters were returning back to their station. The home next door started catching fire as SFD arrived on the scene. Firefighters entered the second home and rescued a child who was still inside the back bedroom. The child was uninjured and reunited with her mother outside.

No injuries were reported in any of those fires. The three homes were vacant and all are considered suspicious in nature.

The fourth fire was reported just after 10:30 in the 2000 block of Corbitt. The blaze was quickly contained to the kitchen area with minimal damage to the home. No injuries were reported in that fire, either, which is believed to have been caused by grease on the stove.
