Four teenagers are charged in connection with a string of car thefts in two north Louisiana cities.

Shreveport police say the thefts occurred in the Shreveport and Minden areas. The investigation began when one of the victims saw his stolen vehicle being driven by an unknown suspect near the intersection of Line Avenue and Evangeline Place. The car was among a convoy of vehicles that had been spotted driving erratically moments earlier.

Shortly afterward, authorities saw a gold SUV that was identified as traveling with the convoy pass their location without its headlights on. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled and two passengers took off on foot.

During the search, the original victim called dispachers saying he spotted his stolen vehicle a second time. Officers were able to locate the victim's truck and took two juveniles into custody. One was the driver and the other the passenger of the SUV that fled from officers and eluded capture.

Detectives were eventually led to a home in the 6000 block of Henderson Avenue, where they found and arrested 17-year-old Jerol Ewell of Oil City and 19-year-old Miketerrio Cooper of Homer. They're charged with illegal possession of stolen things and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

The juveniles, aged 15 and 16, were booked into the Caddo Juvenile Detention Center on the same charged.

Police say Ewell and Cooper allegedly drove to Minden, where they stole two vehicles that were possibly used to committ other vehicle break-ins in the Highland neighborhood. Three stolen vehicles have been recovered.

Property from some of the thefts was also recovered, but investigators are still seeking the owners of some items that have yet to be claimed:
