A free public program being held at the Red River National Wildlife Refuge later this month will highlight fly fishing basics and the 50 best places to fish within a 60-mile radius of our area.

The program is being held at 6:30 p.m. in the Environmental Education building of the refuge's Visitor Center, located at 150 Eagle Bend Point in Bossier City.

The guest speaker is Frank Harmon, an accomplished fly fisherman, who will discuss the basics of the sport, and highlight a few of the best places to fish -- including Lake Caroline at the Red River NWR. Handouts will be distributed with the list of best fishing spots.

Light refreshments will be served before the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information or questions, call Friends of the RRNWR President Lynn Stewart at 868-1067.
