There's nothing like getting out in the fresh air and enjoying the great outdoors. Hey, that sounds like a stellar 2018 goal!

The older I get, the more I realize that my childhood home was a treasure. My brothers and I grew up on 40 acres in the mountains... stunning. We spent most of our time outside riding bikes, hiking, getting lost and loving every minute of it. I'm realizing I crave that feeling of exploring nature.

If you're like me and you need a sense of adventure or you just want to get outside and get moving, why not start with one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in the state of Louisiana? PopSugar.com recently compiled a list of the best places to hike in each state with "50 States of Glorious Hiking Destinations." For Louisiana, they chose Caroline Dormon Trail.

Located just outside of Alexandria in Kisatchie National Forest, the Carolina Dormon Trail is not for the faint of heart. This baby is 10.5 miles of put-on-your-big-boy-pants hiking goodness. Also, you may want to pack lots of bug spray... It is Louisiana after all.

Here's a video from Louisiana Hikes showcasing the trail:
