A shocking crime out of Connecticut has once again put the spotlight on school violence.

A 16-year-old girl in the town of Milford was reportedly stabbed to death Friday after she rejected another student when he asked her to their prom.

The unidentified suspect reportedly attacked Maren Sanchez in a stairwell at Jonathan Law High School. After Sanchez said no to the boy, also 16, he allegedly began choking her, pushed her down a stairway and stabbed her.

Sanchez was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Two teachers grabbed the boy, who is now in custody.

The prom, scheduled for Friday, has been canceled and it's unclear if it will be held at a later date.
