The Feist-Weiller Cancer Center's Great Pumpkin Run for Research is set for October 25, 2014.

It's going on at 8 that morning at Centenary College's Gold Dome, and features the traditional 5K competitive run or health walk, half-mile kids' fun run. Plus, there will be lots of kids' activities, like bounce houses, face-painting, Halloween costume contests and a pumpkin-decorating contest.

The FWCC Partners in Wellness Mobile Mammography Clinic will also be at the event and available for tours, and Raising Cane's will provide refreshments.

The run this year is part of Centenary College's Homecoming Weekend, so you can hang around after the run to enjoy a free and family-friendly tailgate at the Gold Dome, with live music and food starting at 11 a.m.

You can register for the race at the FWCC or Sportspectrum. Cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children until October 23. After that, it'll cost $25 for adults and $20 for kids. Everyone who registers gets a 2014 Great Pumpkin Run long-sleeved t-shirt.

All the proceeds from the event stay at Feist-Weiller to fund the Idea Grant program. It's designed to offer funding to Feist-Weiller and LSU Health researchers to develop their ideas for cancer research.
