Gumbo Competition Comes to KVKI

The Gumbo Gladiators competition is about 2 weeks away and we are looking for the best tasting gumbo in Northwest Louisiana. On March 9th at Festival Plaza, gumbo chefs will be cooking up their best!  The event begins at 11 and runs until 3pm. If you don't want to enter the contest, you can come down and get a bowl of gumbo for a great price. A 4-ounce sample is $1 and 16-ounce bowl is just $4. Erin is one of the judges she is excited "I love gumbo. It's probably my favorite southern dish. My grandmother's recipe is the best I have ever tasted, but several local restaurants and even some of my friends make a darn good gumbo". We are having a little preliminary competition on KVKI on Monday, March 4th. We want you to bring in your gumbo for us to taste on the radio. The winner of the seafood gumbo category and the non-seafood category will win a free entry into the Gumbo Gladiator Competition. All of the money raised from this event will benefit the Volunteers for Youth Justice.
