We live in troubled times, but when something like this happens, especially at a high school, it makes your heart swell with pride!

As the daughter of a former retired Air Force Lt. Colonel, patriotism is in my DNA. I grew up in a time in Bossier Parish that most of the local schools were slap full of Air Force brats. Heck, at Haughton High School, I was one of over 700 students in AFJROTC. With said, I can't imagine the emotional toll it takes on military families to see folks at high school football games refuse to honor our flag and country.

Last Friday, October 20, 2017, Facebook user Tina Marie, posted a video from the homecoming game at Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, CA. In the video, football players came down the stairs through the stands, each carrying an American flag on to the field to Lee Greenwood's song God Bless the USA. Talk about chills!

I'm so glad that these young people have stood up for what they believe in, instead of copying what some pro athletes are doing. In a world where it seems like we're constantly emulating the rich, famous and badly behaved, this video gives me hope for our future!
