People were outraged to see the price tag on the case of Dasani water, but a Houston area Best Buy explained the outrageous price.

The Twittersphere set on fire when a photo showed a Best Buy location in Texas charging $42 for a case of bottled water. Many accused the store of price gouging during the storm, but Best Buy offered up an explanation saying the pricing was a 'big mistake.'

Not as an excuse but as an explanation, we don’t typically sell cases of water. The mistake was made when employees priced a case of water using the single-bottle price for each bottle in the case.

Some called Best Buy out on the "explanation" being that there was $29 pricing on the SmartWater bottles with a sign saying there was a "limited supply." Still, Best Buy was adamant they weren't participating in the price gouging that is so common during storms like Harvey—especially for necessities like water.

This was a big mistake on the part of a few employees at one store on Friday. As a company we are focused on helping, not hurting affected people. We’re sorry and it won’t happen again.

The Texas Attorney General claims that it had received 225 emails and nearly 600 complaints related to price gouging since Harvey made landfall last Friday.

Do you think Best Buy was trying to take advantage of the situation or was it an honest mistake?
