Senators David Vitter and Bill Cassidy along with Congressman John Fleming will host Service Academy Day on Saturday, October 8th at Bossier Parish Community College.

Representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy will be on hand to explain the nomination process to potential applicants and the requirements for applying to each academy.

“Attending a service academy is a real honor and a great opportunity for students to serve our country and obtain a post-secondary education," said Senator Vitter. “I’m proud to host this event with my colleagues, and I encourage all interested young folks and their families in and around the region to join us this Saturday to learn more about our nation’s service academies.”

Dr. Cassidy says: “America’s Service Academies offer students a world-class education and the opportunity to be a commissioned officer in the United States Military. Academy Day helps connect young people to these great opportunities and a future career as a leader in our nation’s Armed Forces,”

Service Academy Day is free and open to the public. All high school students and their parents are welcome to attend, and are encouraged to RSVP to Vitter’s office at (337) 993-9502. Students who are unable to attend can click on this link to get more details about the process.
