I've posted a lot in the past about all the great music that has come out of the Shreveport/Caddo area over the years. We've had tons of fantastic artists of all sort come out of our area, from Lead Belly to Faron Young to James Burton. But, one thing I haven't really talked about is all the great new/current music coming from our area.

We have tons of fantastic local bands like Logan & the Legendaries and Rella (just to name a couple). But one local band that is blowing up in a big way is the Seratones. This Shreveport band is killing it on all levels. They won the Louisiana Music prize in 2013. Their 2016 debut album Get Gone, released on Fat Possum Records, struck a chord (no pun intended) with a lot of folks all across the country. They have received praise from national music publications including Paste and NME Magazines.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that this is a FANTASTIC band that deserves our love and support. Like most things in Shreveport, while the Seratones are receiving major praise from all around the country, they've largely gone unnoticed in the city they're from.

Now, in certain circles, they're a big damn deal...as they should be. But, so is Buddy Flett, who deserves a lot more praise and love then the community as a whole gives him (But that's a whole other subject I can get rolling on another time).

My point is, in Shreveport, you hear folks talking all the time about people moving away and never coming back. Well, maybe...just maybe if we took a little extra time to show support, love and respect to those that are here, maybe folks will stay around a little longer or never leave at all.

And, if you see Logan & the Legendaries, Rella, the Seratones, Buddy Flett or any number of the fantastic local bands that we have playing around, stop by and see them. Enjoy them. Cherish them. There are a LOT of cities that wish they had the musical talent we have and if we don't start treating that talent we have better, we may not have them for much longer.

By the way, if you are a fan of the Seratones or are becoming one, the band is hard at work on new material for a new album. Which I'm can't wait to hear.
