It sounds like the  beginning of a joke, but this is a real story. KTBS says an injured alligator has a section of the southbound lane of Hwy 1/Youree Drive between E. Kings Hwy and Leonard Road in Shreveport closed this morning.

As you can tell by the street map, this particular section of Hwy 1 runs quite close to the Red River. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has been dispatched to the location. We suggest finding another route if you plan to drive in this area in the near future.

After hearing about the alligator crawling out of a storm drain earlier this week in New Orleans and the plethora of snake sightings by Shreveport/Bossier residents over the past week, it might be a good idea to keep your eyes open!
