Just this week Facebook started being traded on the open market. Is it just coincidence that Katy Perry's new lyric video for Wide Awake follows her Facebook timeline for the past two years?It's not a new thing for a pop singer's video to be rampant with product placement. Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, J-Lo, and many more have all been guilty of selling products other than their music on videos. This however has not, until now, crossed over to the lyric video release. Thank you Katy Perry.

It is a shame because it is such a great song. Wide Awake is a song about rebirth, and I can see where her relationship with ex-husband Russel Brand had a lot of influence on this song. When I'm able to focus on the story and not that it is told in the style of a Facebook Timeline I find it much more enjoyable.
