Just the other day I was talking to a group of friends about Jackie Chan and reminiscing on his career. He gave us Rumble in the Bronx! He gave us The Legend of the Drunken Master! He gave us silly banter while fighting guys in the Rush Hour movies, all while sporting a big, goofy smile. It’s nearly impossible to not like Jackie Chan, and now he’s getting an Oscar.

The Academy announced on Thursday that the Hong Kong martial artist, actor and stunt man would be one of four recipients of the 2017 Oscar’s Honorary Award. The Board of Governors will celebrate Chan for his “dazzling athleticism, inventive stunt work and boundless charisma” in both international and American cinema.

Chan has been acting since he was eight years old, did stunt work for Bruce Lee in Fist of Fury and Enter the Dragon, and eventually became one of the most famous martial artists in film. At 62 years old it’s kind of insane to think a guy who has done most of his own stunt work all his life is still actively working. And if you we’re wondering what he’s up to, he has eight new movies on the way including The Karate Kid 2 and the rumored Rush Hour 4.

The Academy’s other honorees include editor Anne Coats (Lawrence of Arabia, The Elephant Man), casting director Lynn Stalmaster (TootsieGunsmoke), and filmmaker Frederick Wiseman (In Jackson Heights). The awards will be presented at the Governor Awards in November, we can probably expect to see the recipients make an an appearance at the 2017 Oscars. This year’s Oscar Honorary Awards went to Gene Rowlands and Spike Lee.
