DNCE is a four-piece pop rock band, who have released a total of four (4) songs. Their debut "Cake By the Ocean" single peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100, and they won the illustrious, fan-voted Best New Artist award at this year's MTV VMAs. Their lead singer's name is Joe Jonas — you may recognize him from his stint on 2015 summer replacement programming variety show I Can Do That.

Oh yeah, and he was also in a family band/Disney property known as the Jonas Brothers. Have you heard of them? You've heard of them. They amassed fans worldwide in their heyday, and we're willing to bet some of those fans showed up to DNCE's September 8 meet and greet at the Plaza Patria Mall in Guadalajara, Mexico. Specifically, the ones who lunged at Joe Jonas, much to his disapproval.

On one hand, celebrity meet and greets can be a fraught situation in today's celebrity culture, where social media has led some fans to think they're closer with music stars than they are, and that they deserve a peck/hug from their fave when they don't necessarily. On the other hand, these Mexican Joe Jonas fans were overcome with excitement, and their unbridled youthful enthusiasm was punished by hands-on security and Joe's palpable disinterest.

Please: Do not squeeze the Joe Jonas. SERIOUS DNCE FANS ONLY.

Another fan crossed a line when, dissatisfied with her and Joe's congenial photo op embrace, went in for a kiss. But Joe's legendary catlike reflexes kicked in, and he yanked the upper half of his body away before she could make contact. Then he appeared to help security give her a gentle shove away from the step and repeat.

Note the girl who comes up afterward, and seems to consider trying it. Security helps keep her moving, but not before she gives both Joe and DNCE guitarist JinJoo Lee quite a side-eye.

As the videos of the M&G circulate on Twitter, fans seem divided on whether Joe was rude, or just not into a stranger's affections (which is his right). The bodyguard's touch with those young women was certainly...firm at best. The debate over the boundaries between fans and artists rages on — but it's like the singer Joe Jonas once said, with his body if not with words: "Don't touch me."
