John Fogerty: “I Wouldn’t Rule Out A Creedence Reunion”
John Fogerty says he is more open now to a Creedence Clearwater Revival reunion than he has been in years. Ironically, the news comes just days after the singer-guitarist blasted his former CCR bandmates for touring under the name Creedence Clearwater Revisited. When asked about the possibility of a CCR reunion by Canada’s Calgary Herald, Fogerty surprisingly says it’s something he would at least give some consideration.
“I have to admit, people have asked me more recently, and even though I have no idea how such a series of events would come to pass, I can tell that there isn’t the bombast in my voice, in the denial, in the refusal,” he says of a possible reunion. “It’s more like, ‘Well, I dunno.’ Never say never is I guess is what people tell you. In this life, all kinds of strange things come to pass.”
Adds Fogerty, “Realizing that it doesn’t really kick up a big firestorm of emotion, it kind of suggests that at least if someone started talking I’d sit still long enough to listen.”
It’s surprising to hear these words from Fogerty, considering we just ran a story about how he slammed his former CCR bandmates Stu Cook and Doug Clifford for touring as Creedence Clearwater Revisited.
Nonetheless, it’s great to see Fogerty’s animosity toward his former bandmates subsiding a bit, and it would be even better to see a CCR reunion of all the surviving members.
