On the verge of launching a tour in support of his upcoming album, Born and Raised, John Mayer is scrapping the tour due to the return of throat problems that plagued him last year. Mayer made the announcement on his tubmlr page through a lengthy blog. So you don't have to read the whole thing, here are the main points I could gather from his blog.

"During rehearsal on Tuesday, it came to mind that I should see my throat doctor because something didn’t feel/sound right. I went in for a visit on Wednesday and a scope of my vocal cords revealed that the granuloma has grown back where it had mostly healed."

Before you head to wiki or Web MD, a granuloma is a nodule that is used broadly to refer to anything from a harmless growth to something more malignant.

"A granuloma forms and continues to snowball because it’s in a spot where the vocal cords hit together and there’s no way to really give it a chance to heal without a good stretch of time and some pretty intensive treatment."

"This is bad news. Because of this, I have no choice but to take an indefinite break from live performing....it will sideline me for a longer period of time than I care to have you count down."

So, we get no tour. Boo!!!! But, Mayer will not just be sitting idly by while he waits for his throat to heal. He plans to write another album as he waits for another surgery and the imposed silence that follows.
