STILL PACKING IN THE CROWDS

Jon Bon Jovi has to be one of the hottest musicians over 50 still bringing in packed crowds everywhere he goes. I saw him at the Jazz Fest in New Orleans a few years ago and the crowd was so big, you couldn't even move out of your area to go to the bathroom. Some friends saw him in Dallas in April. Again, there was a huge crowd to see this legendary rocker. You can keep track of him and find out about tour dates at his home page.

EARLY BEGINNINGS

Jon Bon Jovi is 52 and is best known as the founder and lead singer of rock band Bon Jovi, which was formed in 1983. They are still going strong (minus Richie Sambora) after 30 years. Will Richie be back? Jon says: "The door is wide open, there’s a seat on the plane. Love him to death, but until he gets through his personal issues we have to go on, not only for us but for the crew and the fans and the commitment to the record and everything else. Time waits for no one, right? So I can’t not do what we do".

VENTURING OUT

Jon Bon Jovi started acting in the 1990s. He had lead roles in several movies including Moonlight and Valentino and U-571 and also made appearances on TV series including Sex and the City and Ally McBeal.

He quietly does lots of charity work and is the founder of The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation. That group operates the JBJ Soul Kitchen in New Jersey. It's a community restaurant with no prices on the menu; customers donate to pay for their meal. If you are unable to donate you may do volunteer work in exchange for your family’s meal. He has pledged towork to “combat issues that force families and individuals into economic despair… and support innovative community efforts to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.”
