In an obscure hangar at Love Field Airport in Dallas on a windy Thursday morning gathered some very special kids along with their siblings and parents getting ready to board a special plane to Walt Disney World in Orlando for the 2016 Kidd's Kids trip!

I've been attending the Kidd's Kids Send Off Party for the last several years and each one is very special and they seem to get better and better every year! A private hangar at Love Field is converted into a huge party atmosphere thanks to the many volunteers from Southwest Airlines. There are balloons, a mobile video game truck, a photo booth, plush lounging area with oversized bean bag chairs, music and tons of food from Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers and many others along with other snacks for the kids as they wait for the morning show to arrive.

Once the cast of The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show arrives, it's all business to get these special kids and their families on the plane and to Disney! They have a special role call that takes place, where the cast calls out the kids' name and they run down the purple carpet that is lined with Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, other families, volunteers and Southwest Airlines volunteers cheering them on to the TSA check point (although not in an airport terminal, they must still be screened!)

The kids then get to walk up the giant steps that lead them to the special Southwest Airlines plane that is designated for the Kidd's Kids trip, it's been decked out with the the Kidd's Kids and The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show logos! Once on board and situated the ground crew gives the pilot the all clear and the engines begin to rev up. Once the plane is in motion and slowly moves toward the taxi way one more special thing happens, the plane travels under two water arches that's being sprayed from the Love Field Fire Department trucks. It's an awesome thing to be a part of each year.

I am thankful that I am able to go and be a part of this event each and every year, because you get to see the joy, excitement and anticipation on the kids' faces as they get ready for this journey. At the same time, I'm able to connect with the families that are going and to let them know that we are right there with them. I am also glad to be able to share this moment with you so you can get a feel of what it's like to be a part of this thanks to your generous support of one of the greatest charities out there, Kidd's Kids.

Be sure to check out KiddNation all weekend long for updates on all the Kidd’s Kids families and the great time they’re having thanks to your generous support of Kidd’s Kids.
