Krewe of Centaur Parade Draws a Record Crowd

It's always hard to estimate crowds, but everyone I have talked to say the crowd for this years' Krewe of Centaur was as big as 400,000. As we started along the Clyde Fant Parkway, the crowds were much bigger than I have ever seen. And it was that way all along the Parkway. Usually, the crowd will thin out a big as we move away from downtown. But we had heavy crowds all the way down to Shreveport Barksdale.

The crowd along the Parkway was very family friendly.  We saw lots of strollers and playpens and youngsters out enjoying a fabulous day. Many of these people staked out spots early in the day. I drove up the Parkway at about 1pm and could not believe how many people were already gearing up for a day of fun.
