We pause Sunday to honor Veterans across the region. You might not realize this, but the largest Veteran's Day Parade in the state of Louisiana is held right here in Shreveport. It's happening Sunday afternoon at the State Fair.

Organizer Ken Epperson tells us the parade begins at 2pm. This is the 7th Annual Parade in our community. More than 90 units will take part in this parade. This will involve more than 35 hundred people. All military and veterans will get free parking and free admission to the fair.

Colonel Michael Miller is the Grand Marshall of the Parade. Epperson urges local residents to bring your family out for this parade to teach youngsters about the sacrifices folks before us have made.

There is also a ceremony Saturday afternoon at 5pm at the Bossier Civic Center to honor 9 local veterans. 2 of them will be honored posthumously. Epperson says they are having this special event because some of these elderly veterans could not stay for an entire parade and and honors ceremony. He says it was too strenuous for them. But he wants to honor these heroes.
