The local equestrian community in the Shreveport/Bossier/Minden area has hearts of gold! In a short amount of time, a rescue effort was mounted to help the flood victims of south Louisiana spearheaded by owner Michelle Barr from Right Lead Equestrian in Minden, LA.

Barr, previously a resident of Baton Rouge, saw a need and jumped into action asking area horse lovers to come to the aid of those displaced by the recent floods. It didn't take long for volunteers to raise their hands, from making donations to gathering items to take south. Trips are being made back and forth from our area to the Baton Rouge, transporting horses to higher ground and bring supplies on return trips. If you'd like to donate supplies, you can call Tractor Supply in Minden and they will set aside goods for pick up. I made the call personally this morning and the folks at TSC couldn't have been any nicer!

As one of the updates states, this is truly what love looks like. Thank you to all who have donated and plan on donating. This is what being #LouisianaStrong is all about. To get the latest updates, follow Right Lead Equestrian on Facebook.
