Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation has several events coming up this month. The first one is tomorrow at Bilberry Park.

The Merry Berry Festival kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 13, with a drum line competition. It also features steppers, line dancers, cheerleaders, dance lines, team mascots and a DJ. The festival opens at 11 a.m. with family entertainment, refreshments, a visit from Santa, a spelling bee, essay contest and floral design contest. It's free and open to the public.

Here are announced events coming before Christmas:

Tuesday, December 16

SPAR Therapeutic Division is hosting the 17th Annual Holiday Dance at Riverview Hall. It runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and features music, door prizes and refreshments. It's open to people of all ages with disabilities. For more information, call Theresa Gray-Jacobs at 318-673-7873.

Wednesday, December 17

Hear your favorite Christmas carols at Government Plaza. SPAR's Therapeutic Division will be singing carols around the Christmas tree at 505 Travis St.

Thursday, December 18

Seniors are hosting their Christmas Musical at A.B. Palmer Community Center. The event is free and open to the public. The center is located at 547 E. 79th St.

Beginning Monday, December 22, SPAR's Winter Camp opens at all of its community centers. The camp runs from the 22nd through January 2nd, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. SPAR offers winter playground for children ages 6 to 11, and Teen Winter Camp for teens ages 12 to 17. Camps are free to the public, but pre-registration is required.
