[Update #2] The scheduled press conference has been canceled.

[Update #1] A bunker exploded late last night at Camp Minden, rocking homes across Bossier and Webster parishes. Several early reports that a meteorite had struck the earth nearby are incorrect. No injuries have been reported. A press conference is being held this morning to discuss the incident.

Camp Minden, formerly the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant, plays host to a number of explosives-related companies. Today's press conference at the camp is being called by one of those companies: Explo Systems.

KEEL reached out to Explo Systems for a comment regarding the explosion, but was told nobody there could speak about it.

[Original Story] Residents all across Northwest Louisiana could feel and hear a loud explosion that rocked the area just before 11:30 last night.

Investigators from throughout the region are trying to figure out what it was. The hardest hit area is near Dixie Inn. Deputies from the Webster Parish Sheriff's office are hearing reports that it may have been a meteorite.  Several residents say they did see something fall from the sky shortly before the explosion.

Barksdale investigators have been called in to check out the incident. Helicopters will be going up today to try to find out more information from the sky. They will check out the area along I-20 and Highway 80.

We do know that there is some damage to homes near Dixie Inn....most with windows blown out. At this point, there are no reports of anyone injured.
