Louisiana ranks in the top 10 on a good list, coming in at number 9 on 2016's Best & Worst States for Summer Road Trips.

The personal finance websites WalletHub and CardHub released a pair of reports to help folks find savings during their summer travels. The Bayou State also ranked high on the '2016's Best Gas Credit Cards' list.

WalletHub's road-trip report compared the 50 U.S. states on 21 metrics. Among some of the results -- we ranked 1st for Driving Laws Rating and Number of Nightlife Options per Capita; 2nd for Lowest Price of Three-Star Hotel; 7th for Average Gas Prices; and 12th for Number of Attractions.

States ranking ahead of us were Oregon (having lived there as a child, and visited many times myself, I can tell you that's no surprise), Nevada, Utah, North Carolina, Minnesota, Washington, Idaho and Colorado (I lived there, too, once!)

In the bottom five, from 46th to 50th, were Michigan, North Dakota, Mississippi, Alaska and Connecticut.

So, if you're considering where to go this summer, why not think about staying right here in your own state? There's plenty to see and do!
