Last week was not the greatest for new LSU Men's Basketball Head Coach Will Wade, but he's making up for it this week.

Wade has been able to land homegrown super-recruit Javonte Smart, according to the Louisiana Radio Network:

"New LSU men’s basketball coach Will Wade landed a major verbal commitment today as five-star point guard Javonte Smart of Scotlandville High gave his verbal pledge to the Tigers. He’s ranked by ESPN as the fifth best point guard in the Class of 2018."

Some college recruiting services are already projecting Smart as a lottery pick in the NBA Draft, which could be a blessing and a curse for Wade's LSU class. If Smart has the potential to make millions by the summer of 2019, he's likely to leave school and become the next in a line of one-and-dones at the SEC level.

But perhaps the message he sent on Twitter to announce his choice is a telling gesture:

If Smart is looking to build something "for his city", then perhaps he's looking to build something special at LSU. Unlike former massive recruit Ben Simmons, who only intended to get his inner circle paid, and get onto the NBA without leaving anything on the floor in college.

Ben Simmons treated LSU as a formality, maybe Smart will treat it as a desire.

But we'll just have to wait and see.
