Madonna Surprises Partiers at Ultra Music Festival

Madonna is known for being full of surprises, and she had a big one up her sleeve this weekend. On Saturday night (March 24), the Material Girl surprised revelers at the Ultra Music Festival when she made a special appearance to introduce headlining DJ Avicii … And in true Madonna style, she had another trick up her sleeve, too.

“I’ve been here in spirit for many years, but it’s good to finally be standing on the stage, looking at all you people who have come here from all around the world,” Madonna said as she took the main stage. “In my world, the words ‘music’ and ‘dance’ are not separated. Electronic music has been a part of my life since the beginning of my career. I can honestly say that a DJ saved my life.”

How many people were graced with a visit from the Queen of Pop? Oh, you know, a cool 165,000 — plus everyone who streamed the festival live. After asking the massive crowd a series of questions (including whether they were ready to dance and to sweat), Madge hopped behind the DJ booth with Avicii and rocked out to his remix of ‘Girl Gone Wild’ off of ‘MDNA,’ which hit shelves today.
