Bossier City police have arrested a local man after his 3-month-old daughter was hospitalized with critical injuries.

Police say 27-year-old Sean Christopher Morton faces a charge of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile after Willis-Knighton Bossier staff contacted officers early Saturday morning regarding a baby who was brought into the emergency room. Doctors say the child's injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

Detectives found Morton injured the child Friday night at the family's home in the 2400 block of Lamar Street while trying to get the baby to stop crying. When he noticed something was wrong with the child, he brought the baby to the hospital.

The child was later taken to University Health in Shreveport, where she's listed in critical condition. Morton was booked into the Bossier City Jail.
