The New Orleans Saints will not have Mark Ingram for the first four games of the 2018 season. The NFL has suspended the running back for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy. It's unknown right now what he's accused of using

Ingram rushed for 11-hundred yards and 12 touchdowns last season.

However, Ingram has not been a part of the Saints off season workouts, and would be allowed to participate in future off season workouts and training camp. He will also be allowed to play in the pre-season. Insiders say it will be unlikely that Ingram will show up to any Saints activities until he is required to.

This couldn't come at a worse time for Ingram, he's going into the final year of his contract, and was looking to land a long-term deal. It's rumored that the Saints were attempting to shop Ingram to other teams, but it's unlikely any team would pull the trigger on a player facing a 4-game suspension.

The Saints plan to use Alvin Kamara as the feature back to start the year, but once they get past Kamara on the depth chart, things get thin. The only other running back on the roster besides Ingram and Kamara is Trey Edmunds, a second-year running back. But unlike Kamara's rookie season, Edmunds didn't do much in 2017. He had 9 rushes for 48 yards, which 41 of those yards came on his lone touchdown run of the year.
