His role on M*A*S*H was small, but unforgettable. Actor Allan Arbus, who played wisecracking psychiatrist Sidney Freedman, passed away this past weekend at his home in California. He was 95.

Arbus, in fact, was so convincing in his role, that series star Alan Alda once said, “I was so sure that he was a psychiatrist I used to sit and talk with him between scenes. After a couple months of that I noticed he was giving me these strange looks, like ‘How would I know the answer to that?’ ”

Arbus, who last worked in 2000 in the HBO series 'Curb Your Enthusiasm', liked to repeat his M*A*S*H character's most famous (and oft quoted) line when interviewed: "Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice. Pull down your pants and slide on the ice."
