Memorial Day Events in Shreveport Bossier

Several local groups have events planned for Memorial Day. We encourage you to attend one of these events to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.

The American Legion will lay a wreath on Cross Lake at 2pm Monday at the Lowe-McFarlane American Legion Post at 5315 S. Lakeshore Drive in Shreveport.

The Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery is hosting a Memorial Day program Monday at 11 a.m. at the cemetery in Keithville. If you need more info, call 318-925-0612.

Barksdale is hosting a special Memorial March to honor those who've made the ultimate sacrifice. The 40 Mile Memorial March will include one step for each of the 82,386 POW/MIA service members still unaccounted for. This patriotic event is being held at the Fitness Center on the base from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday. If you have access to the base, you are encouraged to walk or run the relay which will be organized by 30-minute blocks.

Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery is hosting an observance Monday morning at 9am. It's located on Highway 80 East in Haughton.

The Greenwood Cemetery is hosting a special event on Wednesday, May 30th It begins at 10am at the cemetery on Stoner. The guest speaker is Lt. Col. David Hadden, retired Air Force and past commander of the Jr. ROTC at Parkway High School.
