‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Michael McElhatton Confirmed for ‘Justice League’

There are a few great characters in history whose very name strikes fear into the hearts of men. Roose Bolton is one of these, Game of Thrones’ ruthless turncloak traitor whose lust for power engineered the Red Wedding and brought almost an entire House to their deaths. Since Bolton’s — and, as such, actor Michael McElhatton’s — time on the show has ended, he’s back to finding another franchise to join up with. And what better film to start with than a little indie picture called Justice League?

In an interview with Red Carpet TV, McElhatton confirmed that he’d shot scenes for the movie, but was mum on who he’ll be playing. He also had some interesting stuff to say about the tone of this movie as compared to the grimdark Batman v. Superman.

It’s a big, kind of, opening scene, which was pretty dark, actually, in its tone. But in a good way. I quite like that, and it wasn’t comic book-y. But I think you can thread a certain amount of humor through it, which maybe the first one was lacking.

There’s going to be a lot more humor in it. I think would probably be the main difference compared to the previous one.

It’s telling that Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. are trying to push away from the dark and gritty whirlpool that the final product of BvS ultimately became. They tried the same thing with Suicide Squad to pretty terrible results, but maybe, since Justice League started out attempting to weave some humor into Snyder’s distinctive “Twilight of the Gods” style, it‘ll work a little better. The Flash will certainly bring some funny lines, and his relationship with Batman sounds like it’ll get the laughs. At least this means that Warner Bros. is definitely listening to the fans.

Justice League opens in theaters November 17.
