April Nelson dedicated the song she sang at the Miss America preliminaries to a special young man in the SBC.

Miss Louisiana, April Nelson, finished third runner up in the Miss America Pageant on Sunday evening. Just days before, she was taking home the talent award in the preliminary contest.

She sang "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" from the Sound of Music, a song she dedicated to Carson.

Carson is a Children's Miracle Network patient at CHRISTUS Health in Shreveport. He suffers from paralysis. Just two weeks before the competition, Nelson was in Shreveport visiting Kids Clinic when Carson does his therapy.

The two sang another song from the musical together. It was all the inspiration April needed.
