If you see a lot of emergency vehicles as you drive by Captain Shreve High School tomorrow, don't be alarmed. It's only a drill.

Numerous first responder agencies are participating in a mock crash at the school on E. Kings Highway at 9:30 a.m. on April 5. It's being done to illustrate the dangers of unsafe driving behaviors -- like drinking and driving, texting and not wearing seat belts.

If you've never seen one of these mock crashes, it is incredibly powerful. When I was in school, we'd have the crashed car set up outside, and people going around to different classrooms to talk about the dangers of impaired driving. Now, things are so much more involved.

Police and firefighters actually work alongside students to demonstrate the fatal consequences of impaired driving. Students will act out roles as crash victims, and actual crashed vehicles will be set up on the school's campus.

There's a long list of agencies participating in tomorrow's event:

Shreveport Police Department, Shreveport Fire Department, Louisiana State Police, Caddo Sheriff's Office, Caddo Coroner's Office, Sudden Impact, LifeAir Rescue, Escape Shreveport, Fairfield Studios, Think First, Captain Shreve Theatre Performance Team, S & A Auto Salvage, State Fair of Louisiana, Mondello Scaffolding, SPAR, Martin By Design, Azarue's, Wal-Mart, Brookshire's, Women of Wisdom Book Club and Whited Sound Services.
