The Metropolitan Planning Commission in Bossier votes to rezone the land on Wemple Road at Airline Drive to make way for Walmart to build a superstore at that location.

Many residents like Renee Sawyer have concerns about public safety in the area. She says since the city council annexed that tract of land, city police would patrol the property, but surrounding properties would still be patrol by the Bossier Sheriff's Office. The MPC Director told the crowd Walmart has withdrawn its 24-hour operation application meaning when the superstore opens, it can only be open from 6 a.m. until midnight.

Several other residents are worried about what will happen with the current store on Airline Drive. Some think it could close or be turned into a distribution center.
