It was a record setting weekend for the new Shreveport Mudbugs! Not only did Karlis Zirnis' squad notch three wins in as many days over the weekend, but a Mudbugs jersey auction following Sunday's win over Topeka raised $15 thousand dollars for the local chapter of Susan G. Komen For the Cure.

In wins Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Bugs skated on George's Pond at Hirsch Coliseum ice tinted pink to honor area breast cancer survivors. Then, after the Sunday contest, it was the Mudbugs fans turn to come through, and they did in a record setting way. Jerseys for defensemen Croix Evingson and Dominic Procopio .both sold for more than a thousand dollars. But it was the game-worn-garb of forward Frankie Melton that raised the roof. After a heated bidding battle, the coveted #20 sweater sold for an unbelievable three thousand dollars, bringing the total for the fundraiser to slightly more that $15 thousand!

With the State Fair set to open, the Mudbugs make an extended five week road trip, returning home Saturday, November 26 to take on rival Lone Star (Ft. Worth) Brahmas. For Bugs ticket information and a complete schedule, JUST CLICK HERE!
