The most important meal of the day? More like the best meal of the day.

If you know me, you know I'm a breakfast nut. I love waking up early and eating a slow breakfast with lots of hot coffee. It's incredibly relaxing to me and I find myself rising early even on weekends and vacations to indulge in some good breakfast fare.

I could also eat breakfast for every meal of the day.

People tend to refer to breakfast as the most important meal of the day. Filling your body with sustenance before the day begins feels like a no-brainer. Because of its importance, Travel and Leisure has compiled at list of the Very Best Breakfast Spots in the U.S. These 14 restaurants are must-taste places to visit while traveling or perhaps they are the endgame of your entire trip.

New Orleans made the list with Willa Jean.

This is a spot that is known for its biscuits. Travel and Leisure describes these baked squares as "flaky biscuits often likened to croissants." They also celebrated the squat banana bread loaves, sticky buns and chocolate chip cookies. Their website even has a caramel crunch King Cake on the home page... YUM! You'll have to save that for later since you probably won't have any room left in your tummy.

This may be a great place to stop if you're headed to the Big Easy for Mardi Gras.
