New Orleans Still Outstanding Place For Super Bowl

Houston is experiencing the spectacle that is the Super Bowl, and all the extra revenue it brings to the city.  The Super Bowl is a huge boon to the host city's economy, and the bidding process for future games is fierce.  New Orleans lost this year's bid for the 2019 Super Bowl.  The NFL owners awarded it to Atlanta whose new $1.4 billion stadium is set to open this year.  In the past 10 years it's been a case of "if you build it, they will come," because 6 Super Bowls have gone to cities with new stadiums.

The last time the "Big Game" was played in New Orleans was Super Bowl XLVII.  The Big Easy knew it was fighting an uphill battle this year, so it was no surprise when the 2019 game went to Atlanta.  But the cycle of new-stadium-building is winding down, so it's pretty much a lock that the Super Bowl will return to the Superdome in 2022 or 2023.
