New Poll Gives John Bel Lowest ‘New Gov’ Rating In 25 Years

A just released poll shows that Governor John Bel Edwards has an approval rating of just 42 percent. The survey, conducted by Southern Media and Opinion Research, shows Edwards has the lowest rating for a new governor since Edwin Edwards final term in 1992.

The survey, conducted within the last two weeks, says a quarter of those polled disapprove of Edwards performance so far, while 34 percent were undecided.

On average, the approval rating for a newly elected Governor runs between 50 and 60 percent.
