Nick Cannon's father James Cannon has passed away.

Nick revealed the sad news in a series of Instagram posts dedicated to his late pops. In one photo, a black-and-white image, the two stand side-by-side smiling. Nick holds a Bible in his hand. The caption reads, "Rest in Power My Guy."

In another post, the rapper/actor put together a collage of pics of him and his father from through the years. Under the photo he posted the message. "And they ask where I get it from! LOL Love you Pops! I feel you already! To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. It's a celebration! #Universe #Vibrations #UndyingSpirit 'Job Well Done My Son.'"

According to Cannon's Wikipedia page, his father worked as motivational televangelist in the San Diego area. One of Cannon's Instagram posts signifies that the father and son would often go to church together on Sunday's despite Nick's busy schedule.

Nick's last album White People Party Music dropped in 2014, but he continues to keep his hands in all types of ventures. Aside from his Ncredible Entertainment management company which boasts a roster that includes Amber Rose, he is constantly on the TV screen with the shows, Wild 'N Out, America's Got Talent and Real Husbands of Hollywood alongside Kevin Heart. He also had a major role in the controversial 2015 Spike Lee film Chi-Raq.
