President Barack Obama, during his appearance at Baton Rouge's McKinley High School, praised newly inaugurated Governor John Bel Edwards and gave props to LSU hoops star Ben Simmons.

Website nola.com reports the President then took a range of questions from the crowd of about a thousand, then reiterated hi State of the Union speech plans for Medicaid expansion and for making community college free.

In fact, all was going perfectly until the Chief Executive wrapped up his speech.

Obama raised his arms, waved goodbye, and told the Baton Rouge crowd, "God bless you! Thank you, New Orleans!"
