Frank Levingston, of Cotton Valley, is believed to be the oldest living WWII veteran at 110 years old. On February 21, at 6:00 pm Levingston and several other Black Americans will be honored at the Harry Blake Awards at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Cotton Valley. Levingston enlisted in 1942 and last year was given the trip of a lifetime to the White House.

This story touches me personally.  My father is a WWII veteran and at 88 delights in wearing his veterans hat to restaurants as several times this has resulted in complete strangers buying his meal. I make time now to listen to him, to his stories, to the memories he sees so clearly because time is sweet and relentless and astonishingly fast, and soon this, our Greatest Generation, will all be gone.
