Shreveport police have released the name of a man who was killed and another who was wounded following an overnight shooting in west Shreveport.

The police news release details the incident:

Khadeir Jamal Zeidan 27, of Shreveport, was shot and killed shortly before 11:00 p.m. on December 28th. Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a report of shots  fired in the 4900 block of Mansfield Road. Upon arrival, patrolmen found two adult males in the parking lot of the Liquor Store located at 4914 Mansfield Road.  One  suffered at least one gunshot wound to the upper body and the other suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand. Khadeir Zeidan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other adult male, 32 year old Saher Zeidan continues to recover after being transported to University Health by the Shreveport Fire Department.

Detectives were immediately dispatched and, upon further investigation, learned Khadier Zeidan, believed to be an employee of the Liquor Store, was apparently involved in some sort of altercation with another man, later identified as 36 year old Jertorrez Harris. During the course of the dispute, Khadier Zeidan allegedly produced a firearm as did Harris. Multiple shots were fired, at least one of which struck Khadier Zeidan. Saher, also an employee of the business, was wounded at that time. Harris reportedly fled the scene of the crime in a vehicle. Crime scene investigators subsequently recovered multiple shell casings from different weapons on the parking lot there.

Based on information gathered during the early stages of their inquiry, investigators gathered evidence linking Harris to the shooting. Authorities made contact with Harris and he surrendered to them without incident. Harris was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Police have seized two firearms and believe others not yet located may have been involved in this shooting. Harris’ vehicle, damaged by gunfire, was seized as well. The investigation continues at this hour.
